Tasting Notes: The 2009 Merlot is a dark crimson purple wine with aromas of African violets, cedar, black cherry, and pepper. Intense aromas are then followed with flavors of cherry, juicy plum, clove and chocolate. This Merlot is medium bodied and smooth with a velvety texture and soft tannins. Ready to drink now. |

Production Notes:A little less than five tons of Merlot was picked from our Hillside Vineyard at the beginning of October 2009. The fruit was desorted, destemmed without crushing, then berry sorted before going to the fermenter. The must was cold-soaked then inoculated and pressed at dryness. The wine was placed in a combination of new and used French oak barrels for 21 months.
